Harry's Shed

This creative project was a personal reflective journey of my experience of working for and developing a relationship with an older couple I have been gardening for. It all started with taking up what work I could find during the first national lockdown. They had endured much personal loss and both are physically impaired. they started to open up to me and talk about their lives. Harry had worked on the roads in Dorset for 30 years and Val had worked up at the hospital in the premature baby unit. He had played football for Dorchester and even England many years ago. They had met during national service in Blandford Camp in the 1950's. While gardening there one morning I need a large garden fork so I opened the shed to find one. What was inside that shed was incredible, a lifetime of tools and junk plus it was held together with old road signs and completely over taken by spiders and an old tomcat scooted out like a flash. So I decided to try and capture some of this essence in my art work and photography.
